Rome, ITALY (Trastevere neighborhood)

We decided to stay in a neighborhood outside of the city center/tourist area, to get a feel for the Roman culture. Trastevere is an area with many restaurants and bars, and the place locals go out. We have eaten out every night so far in this area, to try all the different types of Italian food. Last night was Friday, and the locals started coming out for dinner at 11:30 as we were finishing up our 3 hour meal.

The restaurants all serve a 3 course meal, consisting of Antipasta, First Course (usually pasta or starch) Second Course (usually Meat or Fish) and Dessert. (Most finish up with a cigarette or two, or three).

Tonight we hope to see a band play in the Piazza Santa Maria Square, pictured below.
