Door County, WI Getaway

This past weekend, Tony and I were in Door County with my parents. Door County, WI is where my family would go for vacation every summer growing up. Uncle Jim (my mom's brother) and Aunt Denny Shaw own a lakefront cottage that they generously let us use. During thesee 4 days we visited many of the hot spots!

The view from the cottage.

Jim, Sue and Colleen, it got a little chilly at night so we are all bundled up.

Al Johnsons Restaurant- http://www.aljohnsons.com/

This restaurant is known for its great swedish breakfast, and as part of the entertainment they have goats on the roof of the restaurant that eat the grass roof.

One of the friendly goats.
Tony decided to test out the Shaws Kayack on the lake.

Door County is known for their fish boils as well. They put white fish, red potatoes, and onions into this large pot and when it boils over you know it is done. For dessert they serve a slice of Door County Cherry pie.

Sue and Jim Woods - watching the fish boil.

One of the things Door County is known for is their salt water taffy. They display this taffy in an old fashioned bathtub in the candy stores. This is a picture from the "yum yum tree."

We had a wonderful weekend, and great weather. A great way to start to wrap up the end of summer.
