For my (uhhum) 33rd bday this year.
(Gasp)
we took another place off our bucket list.
Traverse City, Michigan.
There were a few things that interested us about this area:
turquoise waters of Lk Michigan,
wineries many of them,
rest and relaxation / Spa!
We have wanted to head to Upper Michigan for sometime, this was the year.
We were hoping to find a Finn friendly hotel, FRBO or cottage but didn't have any luck, so again we relied on our wonderful dog sitter.
We took off Thursday and Friday for the extended weekend.
It was a beautiful day for a drive, so we blared the tunes, opened the windows and sunroof and made the most of the 6ish hour drive.
Here is a view from one of the highways, look at that water!
A view from the (livining room/dining room/kitchen) amazing cottage we rented.
Where we enjoyed our morning coffee each morning.
We stopped at a few wineries along the way.
Madonnas dad's winery Ciconne Winery
Another stunning view of Lake Michigan
Wine Cave at Black Star
Berry picking black berries, blueberries and raspberries, yum.
Meet 'Brix' Bower Harbor Winery
Brix: A measurement of the sugar content of grapes before they are harvested. A scale is used to translate sugar into alcohol content of the resulting wine.
Brys Estate
Vineyard and Lake Michigan
Chateau Chantal Winery
... and some fresh whitefish at the Cove, waterside dining :)
What a great trip!
